Medication Guide
Find practical information on Wegovy in Canada, including product facts, prescription access, safety considerations, and questions to discuss with your healthcare provider.

Wegovy® is a brand of semaglutide injection made by Novo Nordisk and is available by prescription only in Canada. Its authorized uses are described in the Canadian product monograph. A licensed healthcare provider determines whether it is appropriate for you.
The Canadian Wegovy® product monograph provides instructions for each authorized presentation, including administration and storage. Follow the product dispensed by your pharmacy and your prescriber's directions. Do not change your medication instructions without consulting your provider.
Commonly reported side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal discomfort. Wegovy also has important contraindications, precautions and potential interactions. Read the current Canadian product monograph and discuss your personal risks with your provider.
Seek medical attention for severe or persistent abdominal pain, signs of a serious allergic reaction, or other concerning symptoms. Do not change your medication plan without speaking to your provider.
Wegovy and Ozempic both contain semaglutide, but have different Health Canada-authorized uses and product-specific prescribing requirements. They are not interchangeable simply because they share an ingredient. Other available options use different ingredients or formulations.
Review official Canadian product monographs when comparing Wegovy, Ozempic and other prescription options. Different medications have different indications, warnings and eligibility requirements.
Tell your provider about your full health history, every prescription and non-prescription medication and supplement you take, and any allergies. Also mention if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any personal or family history of thyroid cancer, or any past pancreas, gallbladder, kidney or eye problems.
Your provider uses your assessment to determine whether Wegovy or another approach is suitable. Provide complete information and ask your care team about any changes in your health.
